A Brief Description of the Meetings

The Lord's Supper

At the Lord’s Supper you will notice a table in the center with a loaf of bread and a cup of wine on it. These are symbols only. But they are very graphic symbols rich in meaning: the bread reminds us of the body of the Lord Jesus and the cup reminds us of His precious blood. Taken together they remind us of the vicarious death of our Lord Jesus Christ. Following His request shortly before His death at Calvary, we are “remembering Him” in worship and communion. And well we should for the cup reminds us of the communion of the blood of Christ” and the bread “of the communion of the body of Christ.” Scriptural doctrine tells us that forgiveness of sin is through His blood and that forgiven sinners become members of the body of Christ: we have been “called to the fellowship of His Son; Jesus Christ our Lord.” In keeping with the New Testament pattern, various brethren guided simply by the Spirit of God will lead in worship until the bread and cup are distributed to those in the local fellowship. As part of worship, an offering will be taken for the Lord’s work. You will not be solicited. Toward the close of the Lord’s Supper, the Bible may be opened and commented upon. While all are heartily invited to observe the Lord’s Supper, as the scripture teaches , sharing in the bread and cup is only for those who are in the fellowship of the assembly or visiting from a similarly gathered fellowship with a letter of commendation. (Romans 16:1-2)

The Sunday School and Adult Bible Class

We share a concern for both you and your family. Our conviction is that all quality of life issues start with a proper relationship with God through knowing His Word, the Bible, and His Son Jesus Christ. We’ll begin this time together singing choruses with the children. Following this the children will go to various classes belonging to their age group and the adults will meet together to study a portion of God’s Word.

The Gospel Meeting

During this time the focus is on the public preaching of the gospel. The Biblical definition of that gospel is clearly stated in I Corinthians 15:1-4: “Christ died for our sins according to the scripture and that He was buried and that He rose again on the third day.” Normally there will be two speakers: the grace and love of God will be emphasized as well as the great blessing of knowing sins forgiven and having eternal life.

The Prayer Meeting and Bible Study

This meeting is just as the title describes. Collective prayer teaches us to share concerns common among ourselves and for the work of God at large. You’ll find our Bible studies most practical and should serve to deepen interest in God’s Word, the Bible.
